CLUB SPONSORSHIP: The Skywatchers Astronomy Club is based at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, and is one of several clubs that are sponsored by the NASA Langley Exchange Activities (an employee morale, welfare, and recreation organization). MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Anyone who is at least 18 years old who pays the club dues receives certain club benefits, including: (1) participation in any club activities that do not take place at NASA (for example, our monthly meetings at the York County library and our observing sessions in the Williamsburg area), (2) club newsletters, (3) an invitation to join the club's Yahoo group, (4) email announcements of all club activities, news, and other information of general interest, (5) a discounted subscription rate for "Sky and Telescope" magazine, and discounts on other Sky Publishing Co. products, and (6) inclusion of spouse and dependents as members. Full membership with voting privileges is limited to certain groups
of people within the Langley community. Access to the club's
activities at its observatory at NASA for people who are not NASA
employees is provided by a NASA visitor badge. The availability of
visitor badges varies and is dependent on the security level and
other NASA policies in effect at the time. Anyone younger than age
18 should be accompanied to club activities by a responsible person
who is at least 18 years old. One-year membership dues are $20.00 (or $52.95, if an optional
discounted subscription or subscription extension to "Sky and
Telescope" magazine is desired). The regular one-year subscription
price for the magazine is $42.95, so the club discount is $10.00. |
